Praia de Monte Gordo is a fantastic beach. Located just a little bit further down from praia do Santo Antonio in Vila Real, the waters are some of the warmest in the Algarve because of the short distance to Spain and the Mediterranean sea. The sand is almost white in the sunlight, it is soft and clean and there is lots of it! Monte Gordo really is an excellent introduction to the beach life of the Algarve.

Many towns can be walked to along the beach or by car from the border town of Vila Real de Santo Antonio to the east where you can get a ferry across the river Guadiana to the Spanish town of Ayamonte for tapas! Go west and you will find Praia Verde, Manta Rota , Altura, Tavira and more - the East Algarve has something to offer everyone no matter what age or interest you may have
